Willow's Story

IN MEMORY OF WILLOW

Help this Arizona Dog RescueWillow was hit by a car on Aug. 10, 2011. Fr. Eddie and Joe were finally able to catch Willow and get her into a crate on Aug. 16, 2011. On Aug. 17, 2011, I went to Whiteriver to pick up Willow and take her to the vet in Lakeside, Az. Her right rear leg was obviously broken and infection was easy to see.

The options we received from the vet were not easy to hear. Amputation was their main recommendation. We do not have the resources to pay for such surgery or fencing to keep her safe for the rest of her life. We had to make the gut-wrenching decision to end her life.

Willow’s life teaches us about a mother’s love. Willow’s pack teaches us about community, they never left her side during her ordeal.

We see first hand how difficult the lives of the stray dogs are here in Whiteriver. It is very difficult to see dogs that are starving, sick, scared, and looking for a way out of their misery roaming the streets. Most days, several bodies of dogs hit by cars litter the streets of Whiteriver. We try to feed, and give medical attention to all who come to the church.

We need your help to continue our dog ministry.

We desperately need help with the medical bills. We have the Rocky Mountain Spotted Tick on the reservation and we have had a rise in medical bills for dogs who have been bitten by the tick. Monthly tick treatments are expensive but necessary in the battle against the tick.

Please help us.
